Testing techniques are not so much prescriptive as supportive in finding good test cases. They are also interesting for the novice tester looking to make the right choice in limited time. Knowing which test cases are most relevant to determining software quality gives a novice tester footing and confidence when performing tests. To use testing techniques properly, it is important to practice a lot. As a result, testers become adept at creating good test cases, with their own creative thinking and experience – necessary for a good test – supported by smart testing techniques.
