Hands-on training to perform API testing
Today, APIs are used in almost every IT project. Sometimes they are developed specifically for the project, while in other cases existing APIs are applied. In both situations, it is crucial to verify that the APIs are working correctly. But how do you tackle this?
This two-day course focuses on structured testing of APIs from both a functional and technical perspective. Although the focus is on REST APIs, the concepts discussed are also applicable to other types of APIs. We begin by identifying what needs to be tested and why it is important to run these test cases. Then we will jointly set up an automated framework to run the tests consistently. We start the training by running single requests on an API. During the training, the tests and associated framework will be extended step by step. We pay attention to specific controls relevant when testing an API, and we also focus on setting up a maintainable test framework.
During this hands-on training we will use Java and Rest-Assured to perform API testing. The focus is on practical exercises where participants get to work directly with API testing. Participants are requested to bring a laptop to the training if possible.
